Senate President Allocates $4.8 Million from Charity Sports Fund to Hospitals and Soldiers' Families

PHNOM PENH, April 29, 2024 — Senate President Hun Sen announced the distribution of nearly $5 million raised from a charity football match to support healthcare facilities and families of soldiers in Kampong Speu province. The funds, totaling $4.8 million, were collected through philanthropic efforts associated with the event.

In a recent post on social media, Hun Sen detailed the allocation of the funds, which includes contributions to three hospitals and financial assistance for families affected by a military incident in the province's 3rd Zone. The Angkor Hospital for Children in Siem Reap will receive $500,000, the Japanese Heart Hospital for Children in Kampong Speu is allocated $300,000, and Kantha Bopha Hospital is set to receive $3.8 million.

Additionally, the families of 20 soldiers who were victims of a bombing in the 3rd Military Zone will each receive $10,000, cumulatively amounting to $200,000.

This generous distribution underscores the Senate President's commitment to supporting healthcare and providing aid to families impacted by military operations in Cambodia.
